Bermuda triangle Even though you won’t find it on a map, the Bermuda Triangle is a very real place. In the past there have been many stories of disappearing ships, planes and people. Although there is a reasonable explanation for many incidents, some are still a mystery. The Bermuda Triangle is located off the coast of Floridabetween Miami, Puerto Rico and the Bermudas. It covers about 500 000 square miles of the Atlantic Ocean. It is also known as the Devil’s Triangle because Bermuda was once called Islands of the Devils. The coasts around the island are surrounded by dangerous reefs that ships ran into throughout thecenturies. Unusual events around the Bermuda Triangle go back to the voyages of Christopher Columbus. He sometimes reported that compass readings were wrong. Many journalists have tried to prove that a numberaccidents and unusual things have happened in the region. Some cases show that there are noexplanations for them. One of the best-known incidents is the disappearance of Flight 19 during a training exercise of the US Navy. In December, 1945 five American bombers left Fort Lauderdale, Florida on a routine mission. 14 crewmembers disappeared after sending several radio messages. When a rescue plane went to search for the Navy bombers it also vanished. What went wrong during the mission is not fully known. Compasses showed wrong directions and visibilitywas bad so the flight leader decided to navigate by landmarks which he saw below. Then there was asudden storm and radio contact broke off. Wrecked parts of Flight 19 have never been recovered. Ships have also disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle. Among them is the Mary Celeste, an American merchant ship, in 1872. The ship was sailing from New York to Genoa, but was later found off the coast of Africa without any crew members on board. Although there is no evidence that the Mary Celeste even entered the Bermuda Triangle there are many whoconnect its mysterious disappearance with the area. There are many theories about why so many airplanes and ships have disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle. Somesuggest that there are special magnetic fields that cause unknown physical forces. Others say that the lost continent of Atlantis sank in the region causing mysterious events. There is even a theory about unknown chemicals in the waters of the Atlantic. Some experts, however, point out that the region north of the Caribbean is not as safe as it may seem. It is one of two places on Earth where the compass points to the geographic North Pole. It is also a region in which the weather is unpredictable and where storms can emerge quickly. There are strong currentsbecause of shallow places and deep trenches in the ocean. These factors can confuse even experiencedsailors. Over 1,000 people were killed in The Bermuda Triangle during the 20th century. Scientists have concluded that this figure is normal and most disappearances have a logical explanation. The myth of the Bermuda Triangle, however, remains. feed mind starving for more Labels: EVENT, something to know Hole in black

What is a Black Hole A black hole is formed when a star of sufficient mass (at least 3 time the size of our sun) undergoes gravitational collapse, with most or all of its mass compressed into a sufficiently small area of space, causing infinite spacetime curvature at that point (a "singularity"). Such a massive spacetime curvature allows nothing, not even light, to escape from the "event horizon," or border. Stars are powered by nuclear fuel; most stars use hydrogen. The larger a star is, the faster it will use up its fuel, and thus, the sooner it "dies". If the stars are large enough, however, then the gravitational pull will crush the star to 'zero volume', or in the Schwarzschild radius. This forms a black hole The closest known black hole to Earth is Cygnus X-1, which is located about 8000 light years away. What would happen to our Solar System if the Sun were to suddenly become a black hole? Not much! Other than getting very dark and very cold, nothing else would change. The planets would not be sucked into the black hole. Their orbits would not change since the mass of the Sun has not changed. Only the space the Sun occupies has changed. The gravity of a black hole is very powerful only when you are very close to it. Why are black holes black? In order for a rocket to leave the surface of Earth, it must travel faster than 25,000 miles per hour (7 miles per second). This is called escape velocity. If the rocket has a speed less than the escape velocity of an object, the object's gravity will pull it back down. The escape velocity of a black hole is greater then 186,000 miles per second. That means a rocket would have to travel faster than 186,000 miles per second in order to leave the black hole. The speed of light is 186,000 miles per second, so light doesn't travel fast enough to leave the black hole, hence it is black. If you get close enough to a black hole you will see the back of your own head! This effect is called an Einstein ring, this is caused by the intense gravity around a black hole. When you are near a black hole at certain distances the light that leaves from the back of your head will travel though space that is bent so much by gravity that it will enter your eyes.

can you tell how strong snail is? can you imagine this little slimy crawling in our garden is stronger than we can imagine? The muscular strength of s nails is surprisingly great. An experiment on a Helix aspersa weighing 1/4 oz showed it could drag vertically a weight of 2 1/2 oz., or ten time its own weight. Another snail weighing 1/3 oz. was able to drag in a horizontal direction along a smooth table twelve reels of cotton, a pair of scissors, a screwdriver, a key, and a knife, weighing in all no less than 17 oz. or more than fifty times its own weight.
